The Anelosimus eximius spider is common throughout Central and South America; from Panama down to Argentina. Because the spiders work together in colonies, building webs and catching insects, they are considered social spiders.

If you are ever feeling like your spider problem is impossible to control, just think about the folks in brazil who have spiders floating through the air they breath

RATS & RODENT

RATS/RODENTS
If only life was as simple as 'hickory dickory dock'.. but its actually safe to say that its a 50/50 outcome that occurs when actually spotting a rat or rodent in the flesh;

[1]  the critter just got there/ learning its way around/passing through
[2]  you found a roommate you didn't know moved in.

You will more than likely find the environment rats & rodents make for themselves before actually seeing the critter. Rats for example, have 2 species: roof rats and Norway rats. With physical appearance differences, roof rats actually live up to their name and live among higher dwellings such as in between walls, cabinets, attics, etc. Norway rats typically live in warmer climates that are coastal embraced and they do not like each other. but where you find a roof rat, a Norway rat may not be far.

differences to remember between rats & mice and things to  know/check for infestation

  • they both gnaw on wood. rats teeth markings will be particularly larger
  • rats droppings will be around pet dishes
  • holes & feedings on rotting or hanging fruit/nuts in garden
  • nests in fireplace, and/or behind stored logs
  • both species of rats will gather food to feed elsewhere
  • rats have been known to squeeze through 1/2 inch gaps

Like any other problem, an infestation wont go away unless taken care of.
Cleanliness is next to godliness, so sanitation pertaining to ANY pest, especially rats is key. Not maintaining or having an infestation controlled will be a catalyst of having thoroughly extensive damage to the infrastructure to your house, you will have to continuously be checking on/repurchasing your own foodstuffs/pet food/ living space due to rodent contamination.

CRICKETS

CRICKETS

Its semi-difficult to even distinguish which cricket is which with the 900-odd species we have in the world. Unless you know what you're looking for, it's easy to get crickets confused with other insects. For example, crickets and katydids have long antennae, have auditory organs on forelegs, make stridulation by rubbing fore wings together,  have long/extended ovipositors, maintain activity nocturnally with feeding habits classified as predatory, omnivorous, or herbivorous. Crickets are lovely for a peaceful evening, as long as they stay in the yard. Having several species duly noted for pests, Once they get inside anywhere, can become a problem that wont go away.
Even though crickets are nocturnal, they are attracted to light. You wont always hear a cricket if they do make inside the home seeing as how males are the only ones who chirp. Excessive rainfall can be a driving force to run crickets inside. Once inside, its known for crickets to eat a lot of modern-day fabrics such as:

  • leather
  • nylon
  • rubber
  • fur
  • paper
  • carpeting
  • some plastics

With 150-700 eggs capable of being laid and having 7-9 larval stages, there can be up to 1-3 generations hatched a year.

ANTS

ANTS
When the ants come marching, it is important to empower yourself with a bit of knowledge about their behavior before you march right off, grabbing the nearest skillet and can of raid. Ants work in colonies, which require supplies. Supplies need to be gathered, and the work is divided up amongst the population. 'explorer' or 'worker' ants set out in search, leaving trail pheromones, in the chance of success and others needing to follow. Ants have such a immaculate infrastructure that they can work and live almost anywhere as well as eat almost anything, typically living near their source of food and water. The best deterrents to ants would be priority maintenance of :

  • landscaping (dry brush, leaves, branches, debris from fruit/nectar producing plant/tree,  debris pile up in -attics and eaves/  -excessive mulch stumps, keeping areas free from moisture)

  • long sitting building materials ( firewood, lumber, bricks, etc)

  • foundation structure :  (sealing cracks in walls/sidewalks, replacing/seal tears in screen doors/windows)

  •  food and garbage contained/bagged up tightly especially overnight

Like any other pest problem, a problem not taken care of does not go away.
For how high the productivity rate of ants, the larger the number of population which helps determine how long and extensive the exterminating process will be.

Bees

While over 20,000 species of bees exist in the world, California's every last nook & cranny is home to over 1,000 species.  In these species behaviors observed are eusocial and semisocial
With the advancements in science we have today we've learned staggering amounts pertaining to the different levels of communication between them and yet it's next to impossible to gauge the different levels of aggression between the species.
Granted, bees have a purposeful existence. At the same time, a problem not taken care of does not go away. Bees can cause harm to your home and pose an incalculable threat to your family, friends, and pets. Extensive damage can be from the build-up of honey and wax as well as extensive procedures for removing hives in-between walls.
Never begin removing hives or nests without the proper equipment or a professionals consultation to prevent injury or damage.
One things for sure, bees go hand in hand of being a welcomed guest to an unacceptable pest!
