ANTS
When the ants come marching, it is important to empower yourself with a bit of knowledge about their behavior before you march right off, grabbing the nearest skillet and can of raid. Ants work in colonies, which require supplies. Supplies need to be gathered, and the work is divided up amongst the population. 'explorer' or 'worker' ants set out in search, leaving trail pheromones, in the chance of success and others needing to follow. Ants have such a immaculate infrastructure that they can work and live almost anywhere as well as eat almost anything, typically living near their source of food and water. The best deterrents to ants would be priority maintenance of :
- landscaping (dry brush, leaves, branches, debris from fruit/nectar producing plant/tree, debris pile up in -attics and eaves/ -excessive mulch stumps, keeping areas free from moisture)
- long sitting building materials ( firewood, lumber, bricks, etc)
- foundation structure : (sealing cracks in walls/sidewalks, replacing/seal tears in screen doors/windows)
- food and garbage contained/bagged up tightly especially overnight
Like any other pest problem, a problem not taken care of does not go away.
For how high the productivity rate of ants, the larger the number of population which helps determine how long and extensive the exterminating process will be.
